Tree Planting and Trash Pick-Up with Baltimore Tree Trust (April 13)

April 13, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Free

The time is here! We are so excited to get started on our Spring 2019 tree planting season. This year, we will be hosting 6 public volunteer plantings in the Rosemont area of Baltimore city. Each of these plantings will take place on Saturdays, so that we can get more folks involved.

As always, we will meet around 8:50am for a 9:00am start. Our Director of Operations, Alex, will teach the tree-planting process to newcomers and seasoned veterans alike, and then we will get started.

Please come prepared with weather-appropriate clothing, sunglasses and/or sunscreen if needed, close-toed shoes, and ideally, your own, filled reusable water bottle (we are actively trying to cut back on plastic waste). We will be planting trees at these events and picking up trash as we see it.

So why trees? The urban tree canopy is integral to the infrastructure of our city. Trees of course filter and clean the air that we breathe, but they also significantly shade and cool streets and parks, as well as lessen street flooding during rain storms. Trees and forests are key players in the fight against climate change, and they also help to improve mental health. A city with a growing and well-maintained tree canopy is a strong city, and we are grateful to our volunteers, residents, and community leaders helping us to provide more accessible greenspace to all.

See you there! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to our Director of Programs, Sheila McMenamin, at sheila@baltimoretreetrust.org.
